PRACTICE AREAS:

Employment Law
Workers’ Compensation

Maital aggressively represents and counsels employers in employment litigation involving Title VII, pregnancy, disability and age discrimination; sexual harassment; wage and hour law and workers’ compensation.

She was recently recognized for obtaining summary judgment on behalf of one of the firm’s clients, resulting in the dismissal of the entirety of a federal ADA discrimination and retaliation suit. She also recently obtained summary judgment on behalf of another one of the firm’s clients, resulting in the dismissal of the entirety of a negligent hiring and supervision suit. She has also secured the dismissal of various other claims and has negotiated multiple favorable settlement agreements on behalf of the firm’s clients.

She also works with clients on cost-effective and practical strategies to reduce the risk of employment litigation by:
• Drafting employment handbooks and agreements;
• Overseeing personnel management (hiring, discipline and termination);
• Complying with employment statutes, including the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act;
• Conducting worker classification self-audits to assess possible misclassification;
• Structuring successful reduction-in-force plans.

Maital frequently gives presentations to local and national industry organizations and clients on various employment law and workers’ compensation topics. She also regularly publishes articles in these areas, having recently published an article regarding religious accommodations in the workplace in In House Defense Quarterly.

Maital was selected to the 2015-2017 Rising Stars list. Rising Stars is an exclusive list, recognizing no more than 2.5% of lawyers in Illinois. She was also selected as an Emerging Lawyer for 2015-2017. Emerging Lawyers have been identified by their peers to be among the top lawyers age 40 or younger unless they have practiced for no more than 10 years. Less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in each state received this distinction.

In her free time, Maital enjoys traveling, hiking, running and cooking.
